We are the Dickersons. On a whim we felt called to buy some acreage and invest in cultivating a slower paced life. Our dream was to create a space for friends and family to connect and grow. We have built a modern, energy efficient retreat nestled on a creek in the foothills of North Georgia.

WE ARE THE DICKERSONS.

Welcome to our little family of three boys, Roman, August, and Silas. Our house is chaotic 99% of the time. Truth. Any other family with boys out there, you feel me? Our lives are busy and filled with packed schedules: sports, school, and everything else. Jeremy sold his fast paced logistics business in 2012, went back to nursing school, and is now an ICU nurse. I (Kristy) am the CEO of STARTplanner, author of Start Balancing, and travel around the country as a keynote speaker because I truly believe my calling is to help others find success and happiness in their own lives. Busy is what we are and this is a place to be still and be busy doing things with each other!

BUILDING OUR DREAM.

aarows.jpg

When creating the design and architecture, we dreamed of a warm yet modern home. Although the rooms are small, we wanted them to feel airy and spacious. Expansive windows and doors allow light to pour in. Having an outdoor living space was a must. Our architect, Lew Oliver, designed the home to open towards the water with the footprint of the house and location minimizing the removal of trees.

During the building process, every effort was taken to be both environmentally friendly and conservative long term. We equipped the home with air purifiers and a water filtration system throughout in order to have clean air and water.

For DIY decor and design items regarding the property follow Kristy’s blog here.

OUR OASIS FULL OF HISTORY

trees.jpg

55 acres full of history nestled in North Georgia. The previous family shared memories of coming home from school to indulge in juicy peaches grown on the land. Stories of raising hogs, hand building the hog pen, and splashing through the river are just a few of the good times had.

Towards the top of the hill a dilapidated home stands. The remains are nothing more than a working water well and a fireplace. Fencing randomly stands reminding us that livestock use to roam here. We are excited to bring life and passion back to this once thriving land. The old home was structurally uninhabitable, but we were able to salvage some pieces in order to preserve the history and tie it into the design of the new home.
